- Founded in 1987, the club was named after Wade Hampton III, a civil war general and South Carolina governor. It's currently owned by its equity members.
- The par-72 course spans across 7,118 yards from the championship tees with a course rating of 73.3 and slope rating of 148.
- The course incorporates the natural mountain terrain into its design, featuring towering hardwoods, gushing streams, and water hazards.
- Amenities include a clubhouse, pro shop, dining facilities, and men's and women's locker rooms.
- The par-3 16th hole, nicknamed Waterfall Hole," for its view of a cascading waterfall.
- Golf season usually begins in May and extends into October, due to the course being in a mountainous area.
- About 2.5 hours west of the Asheville Regional Airport.
- Several inns and hotels are available nearby, but there are no accommodations on-site.
